During their visit to Switzerland, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of the State Committee for Affairs of Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov and Minister of Culture and Tourism Abulfas Garayev visited Library of UN Office at Geneva. Head of the Library Francesco Pisano informed the visitors about history of the library. It was noted that, League of Nations established at the outcome of peace talks in Paris on April 28, 1919 to complete the First World War failed to operate successfully in maintaining peace and security. At various times, 63 member states were included in the organization and the organization’s activities were abolished in 1946. Currently there is League of Nations Archive in the Library of the UN Office at Geneva. The Archive has a great importance for Azerbaijan. Because, originals of many historical works related to Azerbaijan People's Republic (APR) are preserved here. These documents contain letters and appeals, maps and other important historical documents prepared by the Azerbaijani delegation participating in peace talks in Paris.Thanking for the protection of the important historical documents about Azerbaijan, Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov stressed the importance of archival documents and historical facts. He highlighted that the countries like Azerbaijan which are exposed to the insidious policy and occupation of its neighbors need archival documents in the restoration of historical justice and the collection of these documents will make a great contribution to the science of history. On the same day, the Azerbaijani delegation visited the "Azerbaijan room" located in the UN Office at Geneva.
